Has your business felt the impact of this year’s ever-changing COVID-19 restrictions and guidelines?
The government of Nova Scotia is offering grants for relief to qualifying businesses that have been impacted by the recent province-wide public health restrictions.
“The Sector Impact Support Program will provide a one-time grant of up to $7,500 to help small business owners in industries such as restaurants, bars, gyms, live performing arts facilities and recreation facilities.”
News release, December 17th, 2021

The Sector Impact Support Program will be funded through the Nova Scotia COVID-19 Response Council and is expected to cost about $10 million depending on participation. Will you make the time to participate and gain back some lost revenue from this year?
Applications will open in early January with businesses, once applied and approved, receiving the following amounts based on November 2021 gross payroll costs:
- payroll costs between $1,000 and $15,000 – grant of $2,500
- payroll costs between $15,001 and $25,000 – grant of $5,000
- payroll costs between $25,001 or more – grant of $7,500.
Tourism-based businesses have been struggling with COVID-19 restrictions. Tourism, although our biggest sector, has often been overlooked by government entities in the past. Now, with pushes to establish winter tourism in Cape Breton (and all of Nova Scotia), it’s great to see the government working to aid in relief efforts from these pandemic setbacks.
If you’ve been operating in November -or building up for the winter season- this grant could benefit you and your business, regardless of size. Don’t miss out on grant money that you deserve.
